Nitrates and Nitrites

I am looking for a place I may buy sodium NITRATE for dry curing sausage(curing for a long period of time), I can buy sodium NITRITE for $1.00 for 4.0z(for shorter curing times). I have found it on the sausgemakers web page but it seems a little expensive. Also if you of anything else that can be used instead of s.nitrate please let me know, I know the nitrate breaksdown into nitrite and it doesn't disapate as fast as nitrite. I am trying to get into sausage making and am looking for sausage supplies etc.. I have been making sausage about 2 years and people really like it, but dry curing sausage can be vey dangerous if you aren't careful. I bought the book Great sausage recipe and meat smoking by Rytek Kutas and that is what started me on my hobby. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Patrick
