In Response To: fridge smoker (Rod)
that I built out of an old Philips. I basically modified it as follows:
1) Electrically: Installed a lighted rocker switch in the side. Switch leads to a small fan (exactly like they use in bathroom fans), then to a water heater thermostat, then to a single eye hot plate that has a char-broil smoker box sitting on it, right on the floor of the fridge. The thermostat is the key, as I can set it to hold temp anywhere from 110 to 150 degrees, and I don't have to worry about it, and the fan evenly distributes the smoke.
2) Physically: Right side top middle: 3" side draft chimney with a removable cap and a damper. Right Side Middle: Thermometer through fridge. Left side bottom front: 3" 'intake' with a slide cover Top center: 6" Chimney with damper and removable cap Door: Window latches for secure closing.
The water heater thermostat and fan make it work very well. I could post pics if anyone is interested.
